We recently caught up with her and this is what she had to say.
What is your travelling style?
I would say on the whole it is unplanned, I like to wander the streets of new places, stopping in random cafes and restaurants. That said I also love an adventure so making sure I fit in some activities like scuba diving, hiking or anything outdoorsy is important too. I also love to live in the lap of luxury when travelling with the odd bit of the wild outdoors camping too!
How did you find the motivation to quit a stable, full-time job and start travelling the world?
I guess it's what I have already wanted to do. Working for myself and travelling are probably my two biggest priorities in life, except perhaps my family! It's what I have always wanted to do and so when the time came I knew it was right!
The rickshaw ride from Mumbai to England couldn't happen. But did you often travel in rickshaws during your time in India? How was the experience?
I did go on a fair few rickshaws, I always found it wildly exhilarating if not a little scary. I would still like to do a crazy adventure on a rickshaw one day... fun!
You spent a week exploring Ras Al Khaimah. According to you, which are the most exciting things to do in the emirate?
I much much preferred Ras Al Khaimah over Dubai! It is nearOman which is a great place for a day adventure, I saw dolphins when I went on a cruise. I also did lots of fun watersports at the Hilton hotel there which is much more fun than your average day at the beach. Also make sure you go and see the falconry shows in the desert too! There is a surprising amount of adventurous stuff to do in the Emirates which is far better than shopping in Dubai!
If there's only one place in the world you could recommend someone to go to, what would that place be and why?
Definitely India! It has everything and I am desperate to return. I spent 2.5 months there and loved it. The food, the people, the beaches, the mountains. Go, go now!
Please tell our readers about your trek to the Everest Base Camp in Nepal.
My EBC trek was so long ago, but feels like only yesterday. It was the best and worst thing I ever did, so hard at times, yet also so special. I made some great friends on my trek and though my knee has never been the same since walking up and down mountains every day for 12 days I have memories to last a lifetime and those mountain views are something else!
You had a great time scuba diving in Zanzibar. Which other adventure or water sports have you tried during your travels?
I've probably tried most water sports, most recently I was speeding through the water in Benidorm on a jet ski which was a serious adrenaline high! I did a sailing course in London a couple of years ago, but haven't sailed a boat properly myself since. I really hope I give it another go soon though, a long sailing adventure is definitely on my travel wish list.
Tell us about your upcoming travel plans.
In August I am returning to Ibiza with friends and can't wait! I went for the first time last year and absolutely fell in love with the white island. Later in the month I am visiting Basel in Switzerland for the first time on a press trip and then heading to the Soutb of France for a friend's wedding. So lots of fun European adventures in August, after that | who knows?! I never seem to plan more than a couple of months ahead.
