Location
Amangalla is a colonial resort in the Galle Fort in Galle, Sri Lanka. The 17th century resort was built in 1684 and today forms part of the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The resort has amazing surroundings consisting of colonial-era buildings and its very own 200 year old garden. The resorts interiors are adorned with original teakwood floorboards and century's old and priceless artefacts.
Accommodation
Amangalla offers rooms with beautifully restored interiors, antique furnishings and colonial style architecture, including high-ceilings, large windows and original Burmese teak floorboards. The hotel has 30 rooms which boast of four-poster beds, pettagama chests and planter's chairs. The rooms offer splendid views of the stone fort or the resort's well maintained gardens.
Restaurants and Bars
The resort has an in-house kitchen that serves authentic Sri Lankan cuisine in a large, grand dining room. Guests can enjoy meals in a traditional pavilion that offers great views of the rice paddy fields or have memorable candle-lit poolside dinners. The hotel also serves an amazing variety of afternoon teas and snacks encompassing the best locally produced Ceylon tea varieties, along with sandwiches, cakes, tarts and champagne. Guests can enjoy teas by the poolside, in the zaal, on the balcony or library veranda. The hotel also offers alcoholic beverages on the balcony with stunning views of the stone fort.

The resort offers exclusive fort and beach journey packages to guests as well as guided tours of spice markets, food markets and antique shops in Galle Town. The resort has a number of wellness spas within its vicinity, which offer a plethora of baths, treatments and therapies. These include massages, anointments, reflexology and scrubs. The resort has hydrotherapy suites, steam and sauna rooms and a yoga pavilion.
